Sam, an adult by chronological definition only, is starting his life over. After a failed career and relationship he was given no choice but to start from scratch. No job and no money, his mother gives him a dog. While trying to figure out what to do, Sam discovers Murphy can talk but only he can hear him. In need of guidance the two make the perfect pair.

Murphy is a mixture of who knows what and was a gift from Sam's parents. His mother felt he should have someone to be at his side during the journey of life. Murphy can talk but only Sam can hear him. He has wisdom in dog years and needs to dispense it often given Sam's ability to get in to trouble.

Two of the most understanding and patient people ever...not much choice when you have the son they do. His father understands, his mother thinks he will never get married, provide grandchildren and carry on the family name. Her plan, to give him a friend to be at his side. The friend is Murphy.

Co-worker and friend, Wolf appears gruff on the outside but is an old soft touch on the inside. He is a rebel who is not afraid to speak his mind, living proof that growing old is mandatory but growing up is optional. What more could you ask for in a friend?
